Ferrovanadium Production Process Provided By Zhenxin Metallurgy
Thermite method: The earliest method of producing ferrovanadium and is still used today. Aluminum is a strong reducing agent. The reduction of vanadium pentoxide with aluminum generates a lot of heat. It is necessary to add recycled ferrovanadium chips to reduce the reaction temperature, add lime, magnesia, and fluorite to reduce the slag viscosity. After the smelting is completed, it is naturally cooled for a period of time, and the iron vanadium ingots are taken out, cleaned and packaged.
Electrosilicothermal method: Use 75% ferrosilicon and aluminum as reducing agents to produce ferrovanadium containing 40%-60% vanadium in an improved three-phase alkaline electric arc furnace. The process is divided into two steps: the reduction period and the refining period to obtain ferrovanadium products that meet the requirements.
Application Areas Of Ferrovanadium
• Steel industry: Ferrovanadium is an important alloy additive in the steel industry, accounting for about 90% of vanadium consumption. In ordinary low-alloy steel, it can refine the grains, increase strength and inhibit aging effects; in alloy structural steels, it can refine grains, increase strength and toughness; in spring steel, it can be used in conjunction with chromium or manganese to increase the elastic limit and Improve quality; in tool steel, it can refine the structure and grains, increase tempering stability, enhance secondary hardening, improve wear resistance, and extend tool service life; it also has a beneficial effect in heat-resistant steel and hydrogen-resistant steel.
• Other fields: It can be used to make permanent magnets and in non-ferrous alloys to produce vanadium-titanium alloys, such as Ti-6Al-4V and other high-temperature structural materials.

Summary of transaction prices of vanadium products: vanadium-nitrogen alloy 118,000-124,000 yuan/ton accepted, ferrovanadium 88,000-90,000 yuan/ton accepted; retail vanadium chips 77,000 yuan/ton cash; ammonium metavanadate 72,000-73,000 yuan/ton cash.
The vanadium market remains in a stalemate and is relatively stable. There are many market inquiries, but both supply and demand sides are cautious in trading, and there are not many actual transactions. Retail vanadium chips continue to fluctuate around 77,000 yuan/ton in cash; under cost support, vanadium alloy factories are unwilling to ship at low prices. The vanadium-nitrogen quotation is 119,000-123,000 yuan/ton in cash, and the ferrovanadium quotation is still at 8.7-9 10,000 yuan/ton in cash; the price of steel has been weak recently, steel mills still have the intention to lower prices, but it is difficult to find goods at low prices, and the pricing cycle is lengthened.
