Ferro Silicon Nitride is formed by nitriding technology, adding nitrogen to the ferrosilicon alloy, after high temperature and high-pressure treatment.

But in production, two factors will have a great impact on the quality of the product.

First, the particle size of ferrosilicon as a raw material.

Other conditions being equal, the smaller the particle size of ferrosilicon, the faster and stronger the reaction, meanwhile, the more severe the sintering between ferrosilicon particles, the worse the nitrogen diffusion and the worse the nitriding effect. 

In contrast, the nitriding reaction of larger particle size ferrosilicon is more stable, and its nitriding effect will become better with the increase of temperature.

Second, the nitriding temperature.

The nitriding effect at high temperatures is better than that at low temperatures.

Classification Ferro Silicon Nitride

Ferro silicon nitride is an important industrial raw material, which plays a vital role in modern industry. According to the use, ferro silicon nitride can be divided into two categories: 1) ferro silicon nitride for refractory materials, because the form is grayish white and brown powder, also known as powdered ferro silicon nitride. 2) The second is steel making with ferro silicon nitride because the form is grayish white particles, also known as granular ferrosilicon nitride.

Powdery ferro silicon nitride is mainly used for blast furnace plug mud. In the process of blast furnace ironmaking, the plug mud is an essential material, which can effectively seal the furnace and prevent the outflow of hot metal. The addition of powdery ferro silicon nitride can significantly improve the strength and refractoriness of the mud and ensure the normal operation of the blast furnace. In addition, a small amount of powdered ferro silicon nitride is also used in iron trenches or other amorphous refractories to provide strong support for the preparation of these materials.

Granular ferro silicon nitride is mainly used for oriented silicon steel or other steel requiring nitride to improve strength. Oriented silicon steel is an important soft magnetic material, which is widely used in the manufacture of electrical equipment such as transformers and motors. By adding granular ferro silicon nitride, the strength and toughness of steel can be improved, and its physical properties can be improved. In addition, granular ferro silicon nitride is also used in the production of HRB400 steel bars and other building materials to improve the mechanical properties and durability of steel bars.

In addition, according to different characteristics, steelmaking ferro silicon nitride can be divided into ordinary ferro silicon nitride and high-purity ferro silicon nitride for steelmaking. Ordinary ferro silicon nitride is mainly used in general steel production, while high-purity ferro silicon nitride requires higher purity of raw materials and is mainly used in the production of high-quality steel.

Similarly, ferro silicon nitride for refractory materials can also be divided into ordinary ferro silicon nitride and high purity ferric silicon nitride for refractory materials. Ordinary ferro silicon nitride is mainly used for the preparation of general refractory materials, while high-purity ferro silicon nitride is more suitable for occasions with higher refractories and purity requirements, such as high temperature furnaces, glass furnaces and other industrial equipment.
